Under the microscope, the most common type of papillary thyroid carcinoma has a typical apppearance and the pathologist is usually able to make this diagnosis easily and distinguish it from benign nodular goiter

Sestamibi parathyroid scan

Tc-99-Sestamibi parathyroid nuclear scan and often times pre-operatively localize a solitary parathyroid adenoma

Other Relatives

Parathyroid histology is important for sestamibi scanning and radionuclide guided parathyroid surgery. In the absence of parathyroid cellular uptake of sestamibi in the mitochondria, localization using sestamibi will not be possible
